Dutch Golden Age Painting, 17th century. Christian Quintin The new Dutch Republic was the most prosperous nation at the time and led Europe in maritime trade, science and art. A distinctive feature of the period is the quasi absence of religious paintings. This lecture will feature high resolution images of art and treasures from the past. Please join us on this beautiful journey through time with amazing and often largely forgotten masterpieces. Christian Quintin was born in the town of Saint Brieuc, on the northern coast of Brittany, France. He studied at the Beaux Arts Academy in Paris before moving to the United States in 1981. His pen and inks drawings, oils and pastels paintings have been exhibited in many solo and group shows. Christian was represented by the famed Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco and New York, which gave its first U.S. show to M.C. Escher. He has been the recipient of numerous public commissions and is represented by the Lorin Gallery in Los Angeles. He also has presented over 40 Art and History lectures. _____ Tobias Verhaecht (Flanders 1561‑1631). Tobias Verhaecht (Flanders 1561‑1631). Art Share 1 pm Monday May 20th Art Room, CAC Join us for the next Art Share meeting, and bring some art work to display and talk about, or just come to see what others are doing. On April 15 the art share group was well attended and included a wonderful artist/presenter named Larry Cannon. Not only did individual participants share their work but they were also treated to a presentation by Larry about how basic art principles can serve as a beacon and inspire us when things go awry in an artwork. Do you want to hang your art in the Card Room and Room G at the Berger Center? For years, our members have hung their art works in Room G and the card room at the Central Activities Center. There was a hiatus in the Covid years, and ever since few artists seem interested in displaying their works at these sites. We decided to change the process a little, to see if any of you might respond to this opportunity. We currently have our artists and photographers displaying their works for two month periods in the foyer of the Oaks Restaurant at the golf club, and are thinking a change to a similar system for the card room and room G might be more attractive. Three artist/photographers, one in room G, one in each of the two sections of the card room, would hang and display their works for two months at a time. This would give each artist/photographer an opportunity to display more works at one time for possible sales, and to hang them in arrangements they preferred. If you want to participate, or have other comments, send Phil Wilkinson an email at the association's email address, members@oakmontart.com. _____ The art in the foyer of the Oaks Restaurant has changed. For the next two months Dianne Hansen, Larry Cannon and Julian Lifschiz will have their works hanging there. Check out the work as you go for a meal or a meeting there. _____ AWS MEETING THURSDAY, MAY 16 Sebastopol Center for the Arts/Veteran's Building, 282 South High St., Sebastopol, CA POTLUCK @ 12:30, MEETING @ 1:00, DEMO @1:30-2:45 GUEST FEE: $5 Screen Shot 2024-04-30 at 10.03.21 AM _____ {{FASO_DOMAIN_VISIBLE}} {{AM_COMPANY_NAME}} {{AM_COMPANY_ADDRESS}} {{AM_CSZ}} {{AM_COUNTRY}} Unsubscribe Sent with ArtfulMail
