This November, the Oakmont Art Association is inviting our community to discover where all that creativity happens when Open Studios returns November 21 and 22, 2026. Registration is still open for Oakmont artists who would like to participate in this popular event, returning after a multi-year hiatus. Open Studios offers artists working in all media an opportunity to welcome friends, neighbors and visitors into their creative spaces. Whether that space is a dedicated studio, a converted garage, a sewing room, a workshop or simply the kitchen table where inspiration strikes, it is a chance to share not only finished artwork but also the ideas, tools and techniques behind it. For visitors, Open Studios is more than an art sale. It is an opportunity to meet the people behind the work, hear their stories, see where they create and perhaps discover a one-of-a-kind treasure to take home. Past Oakmont Open Studios events have featured an impressive variety of painters, photographers, sculptors, ceramicists, jewelers, glass artists, fiber artists, woodworkers and other talented makers. This year promises another wonderful showcase of the creativity thriving right here in our community. Open Studios will be held Saturday, November 21, and Sunday, November 22, at multiple locations throughout Oakmont. Still wondering whether your work-or your workspace-is "studio worthy"? Don't let that stop you! Open Studios is about sharing creativity, not having the perfect studio. For registration information and applications, contact Open Studios Coordinator Esther Munger at esmunger@gmail.com, or speak with an Oakmont Art Association board member. Open the door. Share what you create. Meet your neighbors. Be part of Open Studios 2026! The Oakmont Art Association will begin the next season with the exciting program; The Etruscans: From the Heart of Ancient Italy. From the ninth to second centuries BC, Etruscan culture flourished in what is present-day Tuscany, Italy. The Etruscans were sophisticated, wealthy people who left behind a rich history and traditions reflected in artistic objects found in tombs, temples, sanctuaries, and homes. They made major contributions to Western civilization's architectural, engineering, and artistic achievements. Yet their culture remains largely unknown, overshadowed by the ancient Greeks and Romans, and shrouded in the absence of surviving written Etruscan histories. Organized by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the exhibit is the first major US exhibition in two decades to focus on this complex culture that significantly influenced the ancient Mediterranean world. Based on the latest archaeological discoveries and the most up-to-date scholarship, the exhibition presents objects renowned for their unparalleled beauty and exquisite craftsmanship. These include remarkable bronze and terracotta vessels and sculptures, opulent gold jewelry, and other treasures on view to the public for the first time. Presenter, Ioli Advani, was born and raised on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. She jokes that she absorbed her love of art by osmosis, growing up surrounded by the island's ancient ruins. She loves to travel, and her experiences around the world broadened her artistic interests to include many periods and genres beyond ancient Greek art. After earning a master's degree in computer science, she spent more than 30 years in the industry. Leaving the world of software engineering behind and moving to San Francisco, she joined the volunteer museum guide program at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (FAMSF)-and never looked back. Outside the museum, Ioli delights in "grandma-land" and treasures time spent with her grandchildren. She also loves singing and has performed in numerous benefit concerts supporting charitable causes.
